Success based on customer focus and innovation:

elke TECHNIK is 75 years old

Ellwangen, 20.07.2023 - The medium-sized company elke TECHNIK from Ellwangen is celebrating its 75th anniversary today, impressively demonstrating consistency and innovative strength in our region and in a constantly changing industry.

Precision- and synthetic components from a single source

elke TECHNIK was founded in 1948 by the engineer Fritz Kerner in Ellwangen with the aim of manufacturing stamped and turned parts and has since developed continuously into a highly qualified supplier of components, equipment and solutions in the electrical heating technology sector and with robust electrical connectors.

Reinhold A. Barlian, founder and shareholder of elke TECHNIK, looks back on the early years: "elke TECHNIK faced up to the challenges of its customers at an early stage and worked together with their specialists to find technically innovative solutions. By continuously expanding its own expertise in the development and manufacture of precise plastic components made of thermoplastics, thermosets and elastomers, elke TECHNIK has been able to develop a large number of valuable solutions for its customers."

Ms. Marianne Barlian, founder and managing director of elke TECHNIK for more than 25 years, took on this task at a difficult time after the sudden death of the former managing director. She therefore emphasizes a key factor in the company's development: "The success of elke TECHNIK is inextricably linked to the dedicated management and employees who have ensured the progress of all areas of the company with their many years of commitment".

Over the years, elke TECHNIK has built up new business areas and entered into partnerships with international and well-known customers and suppliers through the exchange of know-how. This has enabled the company to offer customized components, equipment and assemblies from a single source and to continuously expand its customer base in the area of rail and commercial vehicles, mechanical engineering and building services.

Active for safety and comfort

Heating elements for comfort heating in wet cells or driver's cabs of modern rail vehicles or as frost protection solutions for safety in entrances to large buildings and parking garages as well as robust connectors for reliable electrical contacts in commercial vehicles are part of elke TECHNIK's application repertoire today.

In addition to technological expertise, elke TECHNIK attaches great importance to long-term customer satisfaction. Customers rely on the expertise of elke TECHNIK to offer individual solutions and thus support their success.

"We focus on customer orientation and innovative solutions. This has earned us a reputation among our large and demanding customers as a competent partner with an excellent delivery service," said Mr. Michael Fuchs, Managing Director of elke TECHNIK.

Those who believe in the future also invest in the future

On the occasion of the company's 75th anniversary, elke TECHNIK is taking a look into the future together with the ARBAnova Family Foundation from Würzburg. The company's anniversary is not only an opportunity to celebrate, but also to reflect on the path to further growth and success.

Marianne Barlian, founder and Managing Director of elke TECHNIK, sees the continuous education and further education of skilled workers as a path to growth and the future: " Education, especially the promotion of young people, is a special concern of the entrepreneurial family foundation ARBAnova. We train our future technical and commercial specialists within elke TECHNIK together with the IHK Ostwürttemberg and the regional universities in Heidenheim, Aalen and Bad Mergentheim."

The company is ready to take on new challenges and further expand its position as an innovative player with new technologies in materials and electrical engineering. A new company headquarters with modern development, production and administration capacities in Ellwangen is being planned, and the company would like to develop and offer digital technologies for products with real added value for customers as part of cooperation projects with universities in the region.

Mr. Ulrich Betzold, Vice President of the IHK Ostwürttemberg, emphasized in his greeting to the shareholders, management and employees: "75 years of elke TECHNIK is a unique company anniversary that not many companies can celebrate. The initiative of the customer BARTEC in 1982 and the entry of the entrepreneurial Barlian family as shareholders of elke TECHNIK is remarkable.

Ellwangen, April 2023, Mr. Alexander Röhrs joins the management of elke TECHNIK GmbH, Ellwangen.

For more than 75 years, elke TECHNIK has been developing, manufacturing and supplying innovative components in the field of electrical heating technology and electrical connection technology. As a partner to rail vehicle, machine- and apparatus manufacturers, the company in Ellwangen stands for special know-how and technologies for processing elastomers, for the production of small series with high flexibility and short delivery times. Top priority is given to high quality and production standards coupled with certifications.

Mr. Alexander Röhrs (42) is a qualified industrial management assistant and has a degree in business administration. After working in industry and management consulting, he joined our shareholder ARBAnova Family Foundation in 2010 and has since taken on various tasks and functions within the group of companies, most recently as commercial managing director of a pan-European shareholding. "We are very pleased that Mr. Röhrs is now part of the elke TECHNIK management team. elke TECHNIK is a developer and manufacturer of innovative components and assemblies. A devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria shook the whole world at the beginning of the year

elke TECHNIK and its employees, as well as the founders Marianne and Reinhold Barlian, were also horrified by the terrible scale of this natural disaster. The earthquakes in the Turkish-Syrian border regions were among the worst natural disasters of the last 100 years. A valued employee of the company, Mr. Mustafa Kahil, hails from Syria and his family lives in the areas most affected by the earthquakes.

In order to support their colleague, his family and other people affected by the earthquakes, the employees of elke TECHNIK joined forces and together collected €600 as a donation for the victims of the disaster. This considerable sum was increased by a further €600 by the management of elke TECHNIK. In view of the sum collected so far, the founders of the ARBAnova Family Foundation, Marianne and Reinhold Barlian, who have a shareholding in elke TECHNIK, were also generous and rounded up the donation to a total of €1500. This amount will go entirely to the victims of the earthquakes.

The sum of €1500 was hand over to Mr. Kahil jointly by the donors Marianne and Reinhold Barlian and Mr. Landes.

Our thoughts are with those affected in Turkey and Syria.

Development of a modular cyber-physical electroform heater

elke TECHNIK offers many years of expertise in the development, construction and manufacture of silicone-based electroform heaters.

The application of digital technologies was placed at the center of the cooperation project concept. On the one hand, the electric mold heater is to be developed as a prototype for flexible, adaptable molds (adaptive), energy efficiency, controllability, accuracy and safety and, on the other hand, the manufacturing technology is to support and simplify the desired technical functionality.

The simultaneous development of the technology and the product should enable the individualized and resource-saving design and manufacture of electric form heaters as an innovative system solution in the future. The core idea is to digitally shape the design and adaptation of the electroform heater and to use digital technologies to manufacture, test and make it more intelligent.

In addition to a robust design to protect against external influences, the temperature limitation is crucial for the safety of the electric heater in the application in order to enable use in potentially explosive areas (e.g. flammable gases and dusts) and thus in process applications.

The project is being implemented in cooperation with Aalen University, Center for Virtual Product Development. The project partners complement each other ideally in terms of technology and expertise.
